I’ve finally taken the plunge.
I decided that I’ve outgrown my wordpress.com blog and have now moved it to wordpress.org. As a total novice to most things internet, I can tell you that it’s been a long and steep learning curve! Having done it single-handedly, my new site is the result of hours and hours of confusion and effort, but finally I am getting somewhere. So now it ‘s time to say goodbye to this blog!
In the next few days I will be setting up a redirect from this blog to my new site. From then on you won’t see these pages anymore but will be taken to the new site. It looks different, but most of the old content is still there.
And because I don’t want to lose all the awesome people I’ve come to know and admire here on wordpress.com, I am transferring all my subscribers to the new site too :)
If you want to take a look at the site now, go to: http://www.lostinthemidlands.com
(it’s almost the same as before, but note that it’s now “http” and not “https”. One of the many problems I discovered was that if you have previously bookmarked my blog you may get a security warning when going to this new address. Don’t worry about it!! Just bookmark the new address and after a while your internet browser won’t be confused)
THANK YOU!!! for all your support, and I hope to see you there :)
P.S. If anyone is considering moving their blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org, I absolutely recommend the site http://www.wpbeginner.com/ . It tells you everything you need to know in a way that total novices can understand. There’s no doubt that I couldn’t have done this without it.
Great new website! And, thanks for sharing the link to the site. I had half a mind to ask you how you managed to convert/move the blog. I’m sure this will help me in the future. :)
Thank you so much!! This is the article that shows you how to do it:

And this is the article that planted the idea in my head some time ago :) :

Oh, thank you! :D The plugins and the monetization part are definitely some things which have made me think of choosing a self-hosted site for an educational blog that I run. Again, thanks for sharing. Much appreciated. :)
