One of the best – and cheapest – things to do in Barcelona is to just walk around and get a little lost in its beautiful streets. These photos were taken in Central Barcelona, almost all in the Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic) and El Born/La Ribera districts. These two districts were home to my favourite streets – a little quieter and full of art, character and beautiful buildings. I spent an fantastic afternoon just discovering all the beautiful nooks and crannies, and here’s what I found…
Form and structure
The streets are narrow, the buildings tall. They act like blinkers.
The angles of the doors and balconies dominate the view.
Balconies outnumber pedestrians. Plants outnumber balconies.
The end of each corner holds a mystery.
Some corners seem untouched.
Delicate lights line the streets.
The People
But it’s the glimpses of the lives within these streets;
from masses of hanging laundry;
to a carelessly parked vespa;
and finally to the people themselves;
that make for the most vibrant photos of all.
Great shots. I particularly love this last one of the elder lady and her son (?). Looking forwards to checking out more of your stuff.
